I may be biased to my country with this one...
But it really is fun to buy albums here than anywhere else in the world!
Freebies...
Raffles...
It's only in the Philippines...I guess?
This morning I bought my SS3 DVD on an album launch. In the Philippines, they always make sure that there are lots of stuff to be given away. Not that nobody would buy it if they don't have those freebies. It's to ensure that everyone will enjoy the wait.
I woke up at six in the morning and left home at eight. The mall will open by ten so I was quite early, or so I thought?
Everytime there is an album launch of Super Junior in the Philippines, ELF always make sure to be early. Or the album and freebies will be out of stock. I once went really late and I suffered waiting in line for hours. Even if in my case today, I still had the same amount of waiting.
I reached the mall before 9 AM and the line outside was soooo long. When the gates opened, this time, it wasn't as chaotic as the previous launches. No matter how disciplined we are, there are still some who will ruin it right? Maybe the mall guards already got the situation. It will always be a riot if it's Super Junior's launch. That's how we love them.
There are only two venues today. Either we go to Astroplus or Odyssey on two different malls. Before there are around four areas so I wonder why they held it in two venues.
Going on...Then as we entered the mall, there were two lines. These lines were for buying the album. After that you must fall in line again to claim your freebies from the music store, then another line to claim your freebies from the distributor (a.k.a. Universal Records).
If you're really really early, then it might probably take you less than an hour to finish that. In my case, I'm in the hundredth bracket (though I came an hour earlier) so I have to wait in line for like five hours plus one (the waiting time outside the mall). But it was worth it.
The music stores usually play videos of the artists that made the album and guess what, it was like going to a music show here. There were fangirls screaming, fanchanting, calling out to their biases, taking pictures of the monitor (yeah, it's like that). Probably, to others it may seem like "What are they doing? Are they nuts?". But honestly, isn't it interesting how these girls are supporting their idol?
I admit it, I love taking pictures with standees and even the mural and the album stand. I am crazy I guess, but that'show it is in the Philippines. Fun loving people, crazy, and it's awesome how they sit on the ground in order just to watch the videos on a flat screen television, fanchanting, shouting. I enjoy watching them. (Sometimes I get irritated too when the screaming gets really loud, haha.)
These girls (I include myself) also waits until the end of the launch just to see if they won anything in raffles. I won once, but not today, I wasn't as lucky. But it was still fun.
I will probably share some pictures of today's and previous launches in the future.
Also, I remember one time. I was standing in line waiting for my turn when a man went to me and asked "What is this line for?". Maybe it was because there are more than five hundred people (I'm not exaggerating, that time I was not able to have one of the 300 limited edition headsets from Philips) lining up on three different lines. There are some who were busy watching and fanchanting so the event attracted a lot of attention.
He followed up, "Is there a singer or an actor here? Why are they so busy?"
I answered, "Oh, it was just an album launch." and smiled.
His expression was shocked. Even bystanders and chance walkers look at us. Some were fascinated, some were irritated, most are probably just curious. Still it is fun!
In the Philippines, these are Super Junior's achievements on album sales:
*2009 - Sorry, Sorry was the FIRST KPOP ALBUM that ever made a GOLD status.
*2010 - Bonamana EXCEEDED 1 MILLION PESOS in just 4 hours. They sold albums with the amount of 2.4 MILLION PESOS on the FIRST day. It reached GOLD in just 10 days.
*2011 - Mr. Simple was SOLD OUT on the 1st day of its release. It also reached GOLD!
2012 - This is still yet to be announced...but many people predicted that their albums will reach the same status.
They also have 9 number 1 albums in the Philippines including the three above! They are also the only KPOP artist that has 3 GOLD awards in our country.
I am proud. Even if I supported them late and I wasn't their to buy their albums from the very start...I can say that I did my best. All ELF and other fans of other groups are people with hearts of gold. They loved so much. Some may be just pretending, some may be blinded, some may do wrong because of this so called love. But those who understands are the ones who loved the most and purely.
This is my belief :
" 4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages[a] and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!" - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
Fangirls who loved truly are very pure, I envy them. It was a good thing. When it is something that makes you a better person it is good.
There are so many pure ELF in the Philippines. They may not be there from the very start but they are strong and have pure hearts. I am not saying that everyone is pure. This may also be the reason why Super Junior remains faithful and trusts only their ELF.
This love helps them to have to their launches all over Asia if not around the world. They may reach that status if they will be given a chance.
Freebies...
Raffles...
With or without these, I guess it will still be fun. As long as we get to see Super Junior, it is enough.
Albums and other things only serves as reminders that they are existing. It is fun.
I guess that's all, right?
I still believe that launches are more fun here. Haha. Please don't hate me. I will still buy their album no matter where. I hope I can complete everything soon!
Super Junior 화이팅!!! ELF 화이팅!!!
