It's been quite a long time since I last wrote an entry. Now I'm back to write about music and my love for it.
I started singing at a very young age. Although at that time, I still don't have any confidence and I don't know if I'm good or not. I just love to sing so much that I end up singing all over the house for hours and hours.
My relatives on my father's side are all singers. My father and his brothers used to have a band of their own. Even my aunts are still a part of the church choir and they are the ones in charge of the choir, isn't it amazing? I sing in a choir too but I'm not particularly good..hahaha.
So back to myself, I first joined the choir when I was in elementary school. During that time, I never had a formal training, I don't even know how to read notes! I know how to read it now though...a little. :P They said that it's amazing that I know how to use the falsetto to reach high notes even if nobody taught me. Maybe it was because I always heard my aunts sing that way when they have a practice at my grandmother's home. I wanted to be a singer back then. I continued to sing in a group until I reached high school. It was just a small group that sings every First Friday mass in our school.
I stopped when I entered the university. The reason was because I don't have a time to practice, so I thought maybe I could join a club in our college or something. BUT...there was no club in my college...if I want to join a glee club, it would only be the university's chorale! Duh?! I'm not in that level yet. And I have a bad case of stage fright (that I conquered just recently) So I was really thankful when our college decided to create it's own chorale. I auditioned and passed (YEAH!) so until now, I'm singing.
Putting my singing aside, I also wanted to learn a lot of instruments. I know how to play the guitar and a little bit of piano (yeah, if you call what I do playing the piano). I only know how to play the songs that I have memorized since I'm not good at reading notes (gotta work hard on this one).
Right now, I'm learning how to write songs. On my own...I can't afford any lessons right now. For the first time in a while, I was offered some help by a friend of mine. He has band and they write their own songs (GRAB IT!!!) who am I to say no? I already have a bunch of songs, some are good, some are terrible! He said that he would help me put notes and arrange it. He heard some of it and liked it...makes me wanna blush..hahaha...
I love music as much as I love to write and to read. Seems like art has its own way of calling people and I'm called to be in this type of art. If I'm confident enough, I might post a finished song...but not now XD
So that was me and my love for music! Just sharing... :D
