I remember, it was back in the year 2003 when I was first saw a Korean drama. "Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart (가을동화)" or "The Autumn Tale". Who wouldn't know this drama? It was aired in the year 2000 in Korea but I didn't know about it until it was aired to our country.
In the Philippines, the "Endless Love" series was very well known and I became really hooked in following every installment of the series. So what does "Endless Love" got to do with me being an E.L.F.? Nothing? WRONG! It meant a LOT to me becoming an E.L.F. It introduced me to Korean Culture and Korea.
Remember the fourth installment of the series? Yes, the last one in 2006. The "Spring Waltz" which I waited for so long. I loved the story. But, I loved one character more. Do you know who it was? Yes, it was none other than Choi Siwon. I had a huge crush on him even if he's only shown once in a while. Come on, admit it...he's really cute!
At the same time, another TV series was airing. "Wanted Perfect Family" as it was named in the Philippines and "Bad Family" in Korea. I saw another hot guy! Kim Heechul! Uyu bichgal Kim Heechul, saranghaeyo Kim Heechul!!! *sorry* I was so stunned by his amazing beauty and grace just like a goddess who fell out from the heavens and straight into my Television! Yeah, that was long. Erm...so anyway, he looked as if he stepped out of a manga in that series. And when I was in high school, I was addicted to Animes and mangas and stuff. When I saw him, I was dumbfounded. Really! I cannot even turn my head away from the screen when the drama airs.
Sadly, I didn't become an E.L.F. that way. I was more of a simple fan who liked certain actors. I was really introduced to the Kpop World in 2007 because of a certain episode in Star King where Charice was featured (Charice Pempengco). She sang "A Whole New World" with Kyuhyun and again...I was blinded by the handsome face and the beautiful voice. (Don't forget the blond hair!)
I started to search for "Super Junior" and "Kyuhyun". Their videos came out and I was like. "What's this?" My computer screen was filled with handsome people who danced really well and sings really well. I knew about them that way. Yet, I forgot about them. Ask me why? (*"why" they said*) I was in my fourth year in High School + Busy Schedule + Taekwondo practice. Goodbye to Kpop...
Years passed, around a year or two, I met a friend in college who was extremely addicted to Kpop songs (she even knows the idols in the 90's!) and I had a face-to-face-encounter with Donghae...on her phone. It started again. I got hooked to TVXQ's songs, "Sorry, Sorry" on the Philippine charts, "Nobody" playing everywhere, 2NE1's "Fire" filled the air. It was a Kpop craze...the Hallyu wave hit the Philippines.
Okay, I admit, I wasn't into Super Junior in an instant. That's because I was mesmerized by the wonderful acapella of TVXQ/DBSK but I already liked SuJu at the same time, I mean really like them. It's just that, I'm more of a mellow music lover than dance music lover. Until the world's balance shifted...
I started to watch variety shows where they guested, that time Youtube was not blocking any subtitled vids yet. It was fun. They were really down to earth, no acting involved they were just the way they are. Who would show their shoe lifts on screen? Come on, only Super Junior does that! They were honest and that made me like them. I became an E.L.F.
Then, TVXQ halted their activities, I wasn't really a Cassiopeia...I was just a normal fan maybe that's why I wasn't loyal...bad me!!! I still like them though. But now, I am an E.L.F.
That's how I became an E.L.F.. A long story huh? Not yet... This is just the beginning :D
See you again!
Love,
Mavie
